Co-jin Collection No.9 “Emotional Landscape”
current
Venue:art space co-jin
Co-jin Collection is an annual exhibition which is co-jin staff will showcase expressions that caught our attention from the “Kyoto Totteoki no Geijutsusai”.For this ninth installment, themed “Emotional Landscape,” we have selected the work of three artists who depict the landscapes that arise within the mind.
INOUE Junko, who deeply loves nature, has created numerous works centered on mountains, animals, and plants.
Her paintings are characterized by expressions where boundaries dissolve—such as mountain ridges connecting to bird wings, or mountain landscapes and animal forms hidden within tree trunks. These are not purely imaginary worlds; they are based on places holding family memories or scenes discovered during walks.
On the other hand, DAIZO’s landscapes have no specific models; he simply captures scenes that come to mind at any given moment using pastels. The unique depth is created by the blurred texture produced when finished works are sandwiched between damp kitchen paper towels. The canvas size is about the same as a photograph, giving off an atmosphere that somehow evokes nostalgia.
NOGUCHI Hiroshi jots down subjects for his paintings during the weekdays, researching anything that catches his interest on his computer, then completes them all at once on weekend mornings. Despite this planned routine, even he doesn’t know what the finished work will look like until it’s complete. Fragmentary motifs that surface in his mind are reconstructed on the canvas, creating landscapes that seem to drift between reality and fantasy.
Please enjoy these three distinct landscapes depicting a multilayered world that transcends mere replication of visible reality.
