Chika,Chieko and Seiko’s Appassionato
finished
Venue:art space co-jin
A burning passion can be a great motivating force. However, it usually becomes a small light over time and often fades away. On the other hand, there are those who continue to express their dreams without letting the flame of passion die out. The creations that flow from the hands of these creaters are an extension of their daily lives, yet they overwhelm us with a sense of nobility akin to that of a prayer.
The three artists featured in this exhibition express themselves with tremendous passion, dedication, and empathy. The title “appassionato” means “passionately” in Italian, a word also used in classical music. Their passion accompanies us like a tone, and shakes our emotions. Don’t miss the passionate expression that will be played in the exhibition space.

Profile
SHIMOJIMA Chika
Born in 1992. Lives in Kyoto city.
Affiliation: Kyoto City Fushimi Gakuen Atelier Yoohoo!!
SHIMOJIMA's "“Popure Tennis" series is an original work heavily influenced by anime. At the beginning of its production, the series consisted mainly of manga and illustrations. But in recent years, it has become mainly a motion comic looking to be adapted into an animated series. In addition to drafting and drawing, she also composes music, reads out lines, directs, and edits the series by herself, and the compilation of her work is available on YouTube. The joyful tone of her voice and facial expressions as she talks about her own work show her strong love and passion for her work.
MASUDA Chieko
Born in 1977.
Affiliation: Kurashi Lamp, General Inc. Association
Gorgeously dressed beautiful men and women are MASUDA's signature motif. She loves fashion and has expressed this passion through various means, including illustrations and creating clothes of her own design. The clothes she draws, influenced by various fashion brands and “visual kei” bands, are MASUDA's original creations. In recent years, she has been creating two-dimensional works that are a cross between paper cut-outs and creative origami, challenging herself to create successively new forms of expression.
IJIRI Seiko
Born in 1979. Lives in Kyoto City
Affiliation: Kyoto City Welfare center for persons with disabilities Oharano-no-mori
IJIRI's letters are extremely difficult to decipher. The lightly spun letters are somewhat different in form from those that we are used to. The letters are mainly addressed to the support staff who reside in the house, and the content of the letters are requests to throw parties, go buy a cake, and so on. Sometimes the requests are granted, and sometimes they are ignored. IJIRI, however, does not give up. She continues to write letters, probably because her passion for parties and cakes continues to burn inside her.
